Shock badge
Challenge the gym leader for your fifth badge while you are
here in this town. They all use fighting type Pokémon here. You will
need to teach one of your Pokémon HM4 (Strength) in order to move the borders to
get to the gym leader. Just push the two borders on the side up first,
then push the middle one to either side. The gym leader, Shijima, will
uses a LV27 Primeape and LV30 Poliwrath. After you defeated him, you will
be honored the Shock badge which allows you to use HM5 Fly in and out of battle
and allows you to control Pokémon up to LV70. You will also get
TM1.

Getting a rare Pokémon
In this town, there is a guy who will give you a rare Pokémon
(213). Make sure you have an empty slot for a new Pokémon and talk to the
guy that lives right beside the Pokémon Center.

Getting HM 05
You can get HM2 from the girl right outside of the gym after you
defeated the gym leader. Teach this useful HM to one of your flying
Pokémon so you can fly back to Oilvine City instead of surfing. Fly will
also allow you to get back to anywhere you visited on your map
quickly.

Steel badge
Go back up to the top floor of the lighthouse in Oilvine City
and give the ancient medicine to Mikan. She will give the medicine to her
Pokémon and leave the lighthouse. Find her at the gym in Oilvine City and
defeat her to get your sixth badge. She will be using two Magnemites at LV
30 and a new Pokémon Haganail at LV35. Just because this new Pokémon is
the evolved form of Onix doesn't mean that it is a rock type. In fact, it
is steel type and fire attacks work well on it. After you defeated the gym
leader in Oilvine City, she will also be giving you a TM23.
Route 42/Mortar
Mountain
In order to go to Mahagony Town, you need to fly back to
Ecruteak City and head east. You can either go through the Mortar Mountain
or take Route 42 to Mahogany Town. You can pick up an Ultra ball on Route
42 right outside the cave. If you stay on Route 42 and surf east outside
the cave, you will find an Itemball containing a Super potion.

In the same area on Route 42, you can cut through a tree to get
to three nut trees. These trees contain pink nuts, green nuts and yellow
nuts. You can make special Pokéballs with them. If you don't know what they are
for, click here to find out more. If you keep surfing east, you will get
to Mahogany Town.
Are you really that anxious to get your 7th badge? Well,
you know how you always wanted to catch a Marril and you can't find it
anywhere. Now is your chance. Hang around at the entrance of the cave in
Mortar Mountain for awhile and you may encounter this rare
Pokémon.

This cave is like a maze and the encounter rates with wild
Pokémon is extremely high here. So, make sure you are prepared (try to bring a
couple escape ropes or repels if you can). Once inside the cave, if
you head west and north, you will come to a ladder. Go up and you will
find an Itemball containing a ether. Go back to where you were at the
beginning and head east then north, you will find a Guard Spec in an Itemball
once you climbed the ladder. If you head south instead or north, you will
exit the cave to Mahogany
Town.
Before you go, if you push the border away with a Pokémon
that knows STRENGTH. You will be able to get a Hyper Potion and a Escape
Rope in the deeper portion of the cave.
