Pokémon Gold Walkthrough - Chapter 1

Route 29

Things to get:
 - potion (Itemball on grass)
 - Berry (fruit bearing tree)

Training your Pokémon

Train your Pokémon in this grass area, and heal your Pokémon at Prof. Elm's Lab whenever you need to.  When the level meter is full, your Pokémon will gain one level.  Your Pokémon may learn a different attack at certain levels and its stats will increase with higher level.  There is also a potion laying on the grass for you to pick up.

Pokemon Stats

In this grass area, you will encounter two new Pokémon.  You can find Sentret (#161) during the day and HootHoot (#163) at night.

 Getting fruits from trees

There are some funny looking trees throughout the game.  When you shake them, you will get a certain "fruit" (fruit).  If you equip these fruits to your Pokémon, your Pokémon will use them automatically during the battle when it needs to.  Some of these fruits are for recovering health while others are for healing poison, etc...  These fruits will grow back after one day of game play.  In this route, you will find a tree with Berry that can heal your Pokémon for 10 HP.

When your Pokémon reached about LV10, head west to Cherrygrove City
