Route 35

There are a few trainers waiting to challenge you here.  Nothing special except that two trainers are standing across from each other and you have to battle them one after another if you walk into the middle.  So, make sure your Pokémon are up to the challenge.  There is also an itemball with TM4 here for you to grab.  If you keep going north on Route 35, you will reach the Nature Park as soon as you pass the tunnel house.  If you go northeast and cut through the tree, you will reach Route 36.

Nature Park

You can enter a Bug Catching Tournament every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturdays in the Nature Park.  Just talk to the guard in the tunnel south of the park and he will give you 20 Pokéballs to use in the tournament.  You will only be able to use your first Pokémon that you carry.  In this competition, you will be able to catch some rare Pokémon that is not supposed to appear in your version, but you can only keep the last one you catch.  The objective is to catch as many rare and strong Pokémon as you can.  The tournament ends when 1) you used up your Pokéballs. 2) your Pokémon faints. 3) the time limit of 20 minutes is up. or 4) you chose to end it.  You can enter as often as you want, but the event only takes place once each day.  The prizes are as follows:

First
Sun Stone
to evolve certain plant Pokémon
Second
Anti-Evolution Stone
to stop a Pokémon from evolving when equipped
Third
Golden Nut
to recover 20 HP in need when equipped
Fourth
Nut
to recover 10 HP in need when equipped

When you visit the park on the days that the tournament doesn't take place, there are a few trainers here for you to challenge.  Also, if you go to the upper east corner of the park, there is an opening without fence that allows you to walk outside the park.  There will be an itemball containing paralyze heal for you.  You may also be able to catch a new Pokémon (#191) in this park:

Route 36

When you cut your way to Route 36, you notice that there are couple trainers waiting to battle you.  Finish them off and keep heading north.  You will be blocked by a funny looking tree (it's the same one that blocked you from heading west when you were in Violet City).  You should really save your game at this time because once you use your "squirtle liquid" on this tree, it will turn into Usokki (Pokemon #185).  There is only one in each game, so you really should try to catch it.

Back towards Violet City

After you captured/defeated Usokki, you should head east back to Violet City.  On your way there, you can get a TM8 from the fat guy.  In Violet City, there is a hyper potion hiding in a narrow path area. Just cut your way in, and press A in the narrow path.  Afterwards, continue head east to Route 31 and give the flower mail (and the Spearow) to another fat guy and he will give you TM50 (If you let the guard in Goldenrod City knows that you delivered the mail, he will give you another HP up). When you are done, head back west to Route 36 and continue west to Route 37.

Route 37

On Route 37, there are a few tough trainers so make sure you are prepared for them.  There will be 3 nut trees on this Route and they contain the black nut, blue nut and red nut.  They can be used to make special Pokéballs so bring them back to Gantetsu in Azalea Town and he will do the job for you in one day.  The upper left tree gives black nut, the upper right tree gives blue nut and the lower tree gives red nut.  When you are ready, you can go north into Ecruteak City.
